The Problems With US: Exploring Aided Dysfunctions within the Black Community was written along the lines of a “self-help” narrative to facilitate reflection, while giving the ability to write and express your thoughts, concerns, ideas, and questions about what was written.   This book seeks to spark healthy dialogues about changing negative narratives and connotations for African Americans that WE often continue to breathe life to.

Description

Oftentimes, there is not a lot of talk about how WE (African Americans/Blacks) continue to breathe life into the dysfunctions that were instilled within us. We are so used to complaining about the calamities that our communities face, but end up becoming complacent with our conditions and indolent when it comes to changing the narratives. The Problems With US explores the aided dysfunctions that are seen within the black community as this is what continues to keep blacks stagnant and unable to excel as a race. Our minds have continued to be “Brainwashed”, as author Tom Burrell has suggested, thus causing us to continue to be “perpetrators of our own victimization” and sometimes tragedies. We must work towards reconditioning and reprogramming our mentality, minds, and thought processes to maneuver away from dysfunctional patterns, generational curses and cycles, and continuous problems that we have faced and continue to face within the American society. This book was created for the sole intention to begin healthy dialogues on how African Americans can start changing conditions within a society that keeps blacks at the bottom of the totem pole. At the end of the day, “We are not a problem, we are just dealing with a few”. So, let’s begin to start changing our thinking so that the “few” problems that we are enduring will begin to cease to exist.
